Understanding Essence of Human Movement: For Massage Therapists By Chris Gellert, PT, MMusc &Sportsphysio, MPT, CSCS, AMS Date: August 12-13 2023 Location: Arizona School of Medical Massage and Wellness, 8279 W Lake Pleasant Pkwy, Suite 106, Peoria, AZ 85382 Workshop Description: This two-day clinical workshop is designed to update or improve your knowledge of how the human body works from the inside out, whereby to understand the anatomy and functional anatomy behind daily and sport specific movement, examine how posture affects movement, understand the biomechanics of spinal and peripheral movement, common injuries to the cervical spine, thoracic, shoulder, lumbar spine, hip, knee and ankle regions, effective myofascial release techniques for the cervical, thoracic, shoulder, lumbar, hip, knee and ankle regions. Learning Outcomes - At the end of this course, the participant will be able to: Identify and understand how common injuries occur to the body with rationale. Be able to identify what a trigger point is and common referral patterns. Identify and understand various postural dysfunctions with evidenced based research.Understand the biomechanics of spinal and peripheral movement as it pertains to movement. Understand the role of connective tissue, fascia common fascial slings, and understand factors that contribute to dysfunction. Understand common spinal, shoulder, hip, knee and ankle dysfunctions including pathophysiology, medical management, stages of healing that is supported with evidenced based research. Be able to perform myo-fascial release and manual techniques for the upper and lower body.
