8am-9:00am The Foundation of Movement: How we are hardwired to move (Lecture)
• This lecture will review the interrelationship between the nervous an musculoskeletal system and how movement occurs, the synergistic action between other systems and how one systems affects the other.
9am-10:15 am Relationship between mobility and stability and how it affects the entire kinematic chain(L & P)
• Fundamental movement terminology, factors affecting mobility, how dysfunctions develop, response to injury, how structure effects function will be extensively reviewed.
10:15am-10:30am BREAK
10:30am-11:30am. The functional anatomy and biomechanics behind everyday and sport movements(lecture)
• This lecture will review the functional anatomy and biomechanics behind everyday and sport movement including biomechanical analysis occurs, concentric/eccentric muscle recruitment with each, simplifying the foundation of biomechanics, where weak links are and where injuries occur based on evidenced based research.
11:30-12:30 pm Posture, common dysfunction and training methods to address dysfunction(L/Practical)
• Posture, the various components of posture will be examined, how posture dysfunctions occur, assessment and treatment strategies for all major dysfunctions will be reviewed.
12:30-1:30pm LUNCH
1:30pm-2:45pm Human movement assessment: assessing fundamental prime movements (L & P)
• This dynamic lecture and practical section, will cover static and dynamic assessment of everyday primal movements, common dysfunctions, potential reasons, training strategies for each and how to perform and execute sport movement assessments and understand their respective findings.
2:45pm-4:30pm Spinal stabilization training: foundation, assessment and progression(L & P)
• In this comprehensive section, anatomy of the spine, components of lumbar stability and the importance of the core will be extensively reviewed. Areas of weakness within the core supported with evidenced based research and practical application will be discussed.
• How to assess the core with practicing will reinforce the material, developing a core strengthening program, exercises, rationale and how to progress through static and dynamic exercises will be reviewed.
4:30pm-5:30pm The foundation of Periodization Training and Program Design(L)
• The foundation and essential components of periodization training, periodization periods physiologic response with common sports will be extensively reviewed.
• Understanding the movement analysis of common sports, key elements of training for optimal results, sample micro, meso and macrocycle programs with exercises(pictures) for common sports with rationale will truly change how you design clients with sport clients.
Sunday
8am-9:30am Common movement dysfunctions of shoulder, knee and spine(L)
• Common dysfunctions of the shoulder, knee and spine will be extensively reviewed, including mechanism of injury, pathophysiology, common medical management, physical therapy and most of all, post rehab training recommendations with clinical rationale based on science.
9:30am-10:30am Foundation of exercise prescription & exercise progression(L& P)
• General principles of exercise prescription, principles of training, components of exercise prescription, and application of exercise prescription with all types of clients(sedentary, post-operative, athletic, weight loss and cardiac-special population).
10:30am-10:45am BREAK
10:45am-12:15pm Integrative training: the fundamental training components (L & P)
• This section will review the fundamental training components(client education, program design, exercise prescription neuromuscular training, lumbo-pelvic stabilization training/core strengthening, functional strengthening/human movement training and stretching) will be extensively reviewed.
12:15pm-1:15pm LUNCH
1:15pm-2:30PM Human movement training: breaking it all down w/application(L& P)
• The difference between human movement training and functional training will be defined and clarified, providing a new insight into training, while everyday sports such as baseball, basketball, football, golf, swimming, soccer, volleyball, tennis) will again be reviewed with static and dynamic exercises that will make you think different!
2:30pm-3:30pm Case studies(L)
• Several case studies will be reviewed examining anatomy, biomechanics, Program design, precautionary/contraindicated exercises with rationale will get your thinking caps going.
3:30pm-5PM Multidirectional training/Human Movement Training Continued & Advanced Training Techniques(Practical)
• Multi-directional training is training as it sounds in all planes(frontal, sagittal and transverse planes), rationale, reasoning with application to all clients will be extensively reviewed and an opportunity to practice them accordingly Lastly, those interested in obtaining the credential as an Applied Movement Specialist(AMS) are required to take both an online examination, a practical, oral and case study examination.
