5 Benefits of Using Self Myofascial Release Rad Rollerswith a Total Knee Replacement (TKR)By Chris Gellert, PT, MMusc & Sportsphysio, MPT, C-IASTM, NASM-CPT Background:

Undergoing surgery is extensive and painful, but necessary for those suffering from severe osteoarthritis and pain. Physical therapy has been shown to help restore mobility, stability and function. From my 26 years’ experience, patients after physical therapy are still restricted, how can we help them? Use RAD Rollers.

1.        Improves blood flow and circulation: Patients who complete physical therapy typically still have tight ITB, quadriceps and hip flexor muscles. The rad roller rounds are an awesome tool to use addressing these restricted and tight areas.

2.        Improves fascia pliability: Fascia is connective tissue that forms a continuous network throughout the body, wrapping and supporting muscles, organs, bones, and nerves. Whereby providing support and transmission of forces. By using gentle, sustained pressure, self MFR helps break up restrictions in the fascia, whereby restoring flexibility to the fascia and the entire body.

3.        Improves muscle pliability: Muscle not only tightens as we age but tightens with surgery. Therefore, the quadriceps, hip flexor and ITB need to stay mobile for daily function such as walking, stairs, getting out of a car and other related activities.

4.        Self-myofascial release takes little time: Perform these simple technique as listed below for 3-5 minutes on the ITB, quadriceps and hip flexors muscles.

5.        Self-myofascial release is easy to perform, simple and convenient

Conclusion: Use the RAD Roller round tools to release tight, restricted areas that will help to continue to improve daily function and mobility. For more information on rad roller visit www.radroller.com.
