Testimonials

As a practicing personal trainer with 25 years experience, I found Chris Gellert’s book on the shoulder to be very thorough. The flow of the book gives the student a clear and precise understanding of the anatomy of the shoulder first, followed by the functionality of the anatomy of the shoulder and then the biomechanics before even going into the pathologies and rehabilitations. I have found in my years in the industry that most trainers’ do not understand the importance of core training. Mr. Gellar addresses this importance providing a clear understanding as to why it is important and how it should be implemented into an exercise regime.

The book goes into great detail in regards to dysfunctions of the shoulder, overtraining, muscle imbalances and how to restore balance of the body and shoulder to prevent injury and/or weakening of the joint. He also addresses the surgery, the rehabilitation with time frames on transitioning the client back to exercise. This is valuable information for personal trainer so that they know how to progress a clients’ training, when to stop and when they need to talk to an allied health professional.

The book concludes with functional strengthening exercises, the importance of periodization training and sport specific training and how to design a successful training program that is safe and effective. I have had the pleasure to see him present at conferences, attend his continuing education courses and read his home study courses. I consider him to be one of the best educators I have had the privilege to work with. His extensive knowledge, continued passion to learn and for his work is an asset to the world of health, fitness and wellness.

Overall Chris did a great job providing content that proves relevant to personal trainers’ seeking to learn more about the knee providing scientific with practical information about the knee, injury and training for the lower extremities. He also included additional material on the chapters of Core Stabilization Training, Periodization and Sport Specific Training.
